Why Project ‘Fifty One’?

Project Fifty One aims to represent the population of the UK that is of the female sex which currently stands at 51%. That’s around 31 million people that will be represented and made feel heard through this initiative.

What is ‘Women’s’ Health?

Throughout Project Fifty One I refer to Women and Women’s health. This is the health of an individual of the female sex who has XX chromosomes. In the field of medicine and science, the classification of sex based on XX and XY chromosomes is important as these determine how every cell in the body behaves.

Project Fifty One is a space for all, regardless of gender expression. This means even if the phrase ‘Women’s’ health doesn’t resonate with you but the content of the topic does, then keep reading!

Women’s health in the typical sense refers to the sexual and reproductive health of someone of the female sex. Through Project Fifty One I want to redefine the phrase to incorporate every physical aspect of a woman. This means i’m talking about cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, pain etc as well as female specific conditions such as endometriosis.
